You Are the Designer of Your Own Destiny

W-Inspiration Wednesday Week 5

Time for W-Inspiration Wednesday…

You Are the Designer of Your Own Destiny

I have a LOT of goals. Some of them are small (read the new Kristen Ashley book), some of them larger (clean the house and somehow manage to keep it clean for at least a day), and some of them are grandiose (quit my day job so I can write full-time). There are lots of goals on that scale but, for a long time, I was afraid of many of them. I talked a little bit about fear before (and I’ll talk more about that in the future), but one of the tools that helped me overcome that fear was learning how to set a goal, and also learning how to stick with it, even when things got rough and I wanted to quit.

I ultimately realized that if I wanted to be a full-time author, I had to be the one to start. I had to design my own destiny, my own path, and figure out how to get there. I developed a road map of sorts – a series of goals for myself as an author – and I’m slowly working my way through the list. If I ever waver, I just think of how much I’ve accomplished. My post yesterday was about how little things add up to big accomplishments – the same is true here. Start by doing a little, and you’ll be surprised how far you get with your dreams, whatever wonderful thing they are (including a clean house).

Do you have goals you’re working towards? Comment on this post and let me know!
